Since 1988, the Geneva Alzheimer’s Association has been working to defend the interest of the 8,700 people suffering from Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia living in the canton of Geneva
Approximately 26,100 people - close relatives, families or professionals support them on a daily basis by allowing them, in the majority of cases to stay at home.
Specialized nurses respond to the demands of close relatives or the professionals by telephone or individual interviews. A home support service can unload loved ones for a few hours a week and the Alzheimer’s holidays offer couples (sick-+close) to share a week of rest in an exotic place. The association’s self -help groups complete this offer and are a place of exchange for their relatives to share their experiences with other people living in the same situation .In addition, The Relais Dumas day center welcomes people with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia in a suitable setting.
