HOW TO MAKE A DONATION?

Go to the fundraising page of the runner that you want to support, then click on the " MAKE A DONATION " button.

Runners' fundraising pages can all be accessed by using the search bar. Race for Gift uses a secure online payment terminal which protects all personal data. The platform accepts the following payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, and PayPal.

WHAT IS A FUNDRAISING PAGE?

This is a web page set up by a person wanting to support a particular charity. It can be accessed from Facebook. It includes a personal message explaining the person's motivations for fundraising on the charity's behalf, details of the target that they want to reach, a description of the beneficiary organisation, photos, a counter showing how much has been raised so far, a list of the donations received and options for sharing the page on various social media sites.

HOW CAN I SETUP MY OWN FUNDRAISING PAGE?

Select the organization that you want to support and then sign up for the race. A fundraising page will be automatically created for you! You can then either use your Facebook account, or you can manually enter your personal details (first name, last name, email address, date of birth) to set up your fundraising page. You'll get guidance on customising and then sharing your page.

Your email address was automatically stored when you tried to sign up. To register and set up your fundraising page, simply log onto your account.

WHY DO I NEED TO FUNDRAISE?

Race for Gift is both a sporting challenge and a charity event, the aim of which is to support the 20 beneficiary organisations. By registering to take part, not only are you pledging to run or walk: you are also pledging to support an organisation and fund the work it does. To do this, as soon as you have signed up, you will have your own, completely secure, personal fundraising page.

HOW CAN I FUNDRAISE?

Race for Gift will provide you with a simple and secure fundraising tool for collecting online donations directly from your friends and family (that you can share via your Facebook page, Twitter or even by email).

Once you have signed up, a fundraising page is automatically created for you. You can then personalise it via a special back-office module (click on the " manage my page " button at the bottom of your fundraising page), and share it with as many people as possible!

HOW CAN I SEND THE MONEY I HAVE RAISED TO THE ORGANISATION?

All of the donations raised by your fundraising page go straight to your chosen charity. Thanks to the banking partnerships that we have set up, all transactions are fully secure.

How can I get donors to support me?

To ensure that people respond generously to your fundraising campaign, you just need to follow a few simple pieces of advice:

  1. Personalise your page with your photo and share details of how you got involved and what your reasons for doing so are.
  2. Get things started by making the first donation yourself.
  3. Kickstart your fundraising campaign by getting members of your family or very close friends to support you. Send out emails and post details of what you're doing on Facebook!
  4. Once the first donations have started to come in, cast your net more widely and get your friends and colleagues to support you: share your page on social media pages, by email or even by SMS!
  5. After a few days, post reports of how your fundraising is going and start explicitly asking for donations to help you reach your target.
  6. Thank your donors publicly on your fundraising page or on your Facebook wall.

Can I get a proof of donation for the donations made via my page?

The donations made to the charity via your personal fundraising page are similar to the donations made directly to the organisation's own website. Are transactions secure?

The security of donors' transactions is one of our priorities. We guarantee that donations made via personal pages are 100% secure.

Bank details are entered directly via our bank partner's secure website. The organisation will only receive confirmation that a donation has been made - donors' bank details are never shared.

What happens if I don't reach my fundraising target?

It's not always easy to ask one's friends and family for donations. To help you with your fundraising, have a look at the various tips and tricks that we have compiled in our Fundraising Guide.

When you register to run in order to raise money for a participating organisation, you pledge to raise a minimum of CHF 300 - or the equivalent of 6 x CHF 50 or 12 x CHF 25! Your campaign - as well as the fundraising campaigns of everybody else who has signed up for the race - is vital for enabling the participating organisation that you have chosen to support to do its work.

However much you raise, all the donations that you receive via your personal fundraising page will go to the organisation and help fund its initiatives.
